Teens can discover Browser’s Cache and more in FDLPL’s Children’s Room

Teens may join the Fond du Lac Public Library’s newest subscription-style program, Browser’s Cache, starting in January.

This is just one of many events scheduled for teens and youth at the library this month.

Just for teens, Browser’s Cache contains a checked-out library book to read and return, plus a snack, an activity, and a list of more book recommendations for a teen to keep.

To participate, register at calendar.fdlpl.org from Jan. 8 to 14, and then pick up a cache Jan. 15 to 21. January’s theme is Stand Up, Speak Out, Bounce Back. 

Other teen activities scheduled for January include:

Tuesday, Jan. 3 at 4:30 p.m. in the Mid-States: 

Drop into Anime Afternoon to see a few episodes of anime and enjoy a few snacks. 

Cosplay is welcome.

Tuesday, Jan. 17 at 4:30 p.m. in the Mid-States Room: Create a hot chocolate bomb during Full STEAM Ahead.

Monday, Jan. 23 at 2 p.m. in the Mid-States Room: 

Watch the classic movie Wayne’s World during the second installment of the Midwest Movie Marathon Younger children and their caregivers, meanwhile, will want to register right away to help save Olaf during the library’s Frozen Escape Room. Groups of up to 12 may register for any of five sessions scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 21 in the Mid-States Room. This event is best for children who are able to read and do simple math, and their families. Register at calendar.fdlpl.org

Other youth activities planned include:

Mondays, Jan. 2 and 9 at 9:30 a.m. in the McLane Room: Babies, toddlers, preschoolers and their caregivers may drop in to read stories, play with toys, puzzles, games and more.

Wednesday, Jan. 4 at 1:30 p.m. in the McLane Room: Learn about the artist Elizabeth Catlett, then practice stamping/printmaking inspired by her work. This program will be provided in partnership with Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts, and will conclude with an art activity at Thelma.

Wednesday, Jan. 11 at 4:30 p.m. in the McLane Room: Drop in to create cardboard spinners during Crafty Kids.Monday, Jan. 16 at 4:30 p.m. in the Mid-States Room: 

Learn about Midwest weather during the library’s monthly STEAM night.

Monday, Jan. 23 at either 11 a.m. or 4:30 p.m.:

 Paint along with Miss Katie, who will teach youth ages 5 and older how to create a Midwest-themed painting. Registration required at calendar.fdlpl.org.

Tuesday, Jan. 24 at 4:30 p.m. in the McLane Room:

 Read to a therapy dog during Paws to R.E.A.D.S

torytime for children also returns starting Jan. 16. Baby storytime will be held Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m.; toddler storytime will be Mondays and Thursdays at 9:30 a.m.; and preschool storytime will be held Mondays at 10:30 a.m. and Thursdays at 4:30 p.m

.Fond du Lac Public Library operates two locations: the Main Library at 32 Sheboygan St. in downtown Fond du Lac, and FDLPL Express at 1132 E. Johnson St. near Festival Foods. 

The main library is open daily: Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. Chapter 52 Bookstore at 52 Sheboygan St. is open Monday through Wednesday from 2 to 6 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., while FDLPL Express is open weekdays from 2 to 6 p.m., and weekends from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.For more information about any of these locations, visit fdlpl.org.
