Wisconsin Rural Broadband Connectivity Initiative Virtual Event
Join Midwest staff from U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Social Security Administration (SSA), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), and USDA Rural Development to learn about resources that can be leveraged to support expansion of programs to increase rural connectivity.
Staff from USDA’s Rural Utilities Service (RUS) will present on USDA Rural Development Telecommunications Program which improves the quality of life in rural America by providing funding for the deployment of rural telecommunications infrastructure. U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Staff will review its ConnectHomeUSA program.
The initiative allows organizations to produce locally-tailored solutions for narrowing the digital divide for HUD-assisted residents. The initiative relies on public-private collaboration and is led locally by Public Housing Authorities or tribes who connect residents to free or affordable in-unit Internet service, free or affordable computer device, and the training to use them.
