WASHINGTON D.C. - Congressman Glenn Grothman (WI-06) is spearheading an effort to rename the U.S. Post Office on Fremont Street in Kiel, Wisconsin, in honor of Trooper Trevor J. Casper, who tragically lost his life in the line of duty in 2015. The legislation has garnered support from the entire Wisconsin Congressional delegation, including Representatives Tom Tiffany (WI-07), Scott Fitzgerald (WI-05), Derrick Van Orden (WI-03), Gwen Moore (WI-04), Bryan Steil (WI-01), Mike Gallagher (WI-08), and Mark Pocan (WI-02).

"Trooper Casper’s life was tragically cut short in 2015 as he became the youngest police officer to be killed in the line of duty in our state’s history," said Congressman Grothman. "Renaming this post office in his honor serves as a lasting tribute to this young man who was unwavering in his commitment to keeping our streets safe."

The proposed renaming of the post office aims to honor Trooper Casper's sacrifice and highlight the debt of gratitude owed to law enforcement officers. Congressman Grothman emphasized the importance of remembering Trooper Casper's heroism and dedication to duty while supporting those who continue to serve and protect Wisconsin.

Trooper Trevor J. Casper tragically lost his life on March 24, 2015, during his first solo assignment as a police officer. While attempting to apprehend a bank robbery and murder suspect in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, he was shot and killed. At the time of his death, he was the youngest officer to have been killed in the line of duty in the state's history.

Trooper Casper had fulfilled his dream of becoming a police officer after graduating from the State Patrol Academy and being stationed at the State Trooper Base in Fond du Lac. Born on May 21, 1993, he was an active member of the Kiel community, participating in wrestling, soccer, and coaching youth sports. He graduated from Kiel High School in 2011 and earned a degree in Criminal Justice from Lakeshore Technical College in 2014.

The legislation to rename the post office in honor of Trooper Trevor J. Casper is a testament to his selflessness and dedication to public service. It serves as a reminder of the risks law enforcement officers face daily to keep our communities safe.
