FOIA Request to Dodge County Regarding Vendor Payments from January 1, 2024, till September 26, 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Fond Du Lac Times have sent a request under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., to Dodge County.
The request was for records of all payments made to vendors within the specified period. The details sought include the vendor name, transaction date, transaction description, and amount. These details are critical in understanding how public funds are being utilized and ensuring transparency in government operations.
As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional. We await a positive response from Dodge County as we continue our mission of keeping the public informed about their local government's activities.
