A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to Fond Du Lac County in Wisconsin on October 7, 2024. We at the Fond Du Lac Times are seeking access to specific public records under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq.
The request includes a comprehensive list of FOIA logs that were sent to the county from January 1, 2024, through October 7, 2024. The requested information specifically includes fields such as the requester's name and organization, content of the request, date of the request and its completion date, as well as the status of the FOIA.
As journalists committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we believe access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we have also requested a fee waiver as media professionals for this particular FOIA request. We firmly believe that facilitating access to such information not only serves our journalistic duties but also contributes significantly towards fostering an informed citizenry.
