FOIA Request to Town of Emmet Regarding New Voter Registrations on November 7, 2024. The Fond Du Lac Times, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, has requested the town clerk's office for a list of new voters who registered on Election Day, November 5, 2024.
The request was made under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., with a preference for an electronic format. As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we at Fond Du Lac Times believe access to public records is essential for fulfilling our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
In light of our role in disseminating information, we have requested a fee waiver as a media professional. We await the response from the Town of Emmet's office regarding this request.
