Congressman Glenn Grothman of Wisconsin shared his thoughts following President Trump's recent Joint Address to Congress. Grothman expressed support for the President's vision, which emphasized economic growth, border security, and public safety.
"Tonight, President Trump laid out a bold vision for the future of our country, focusing on strengthening our economy, securing our borders, protecting our children, honoring police and firefighters, and ensuring that every American has the opportunity to achieve success," Grothman stated. He praised Trump's commitment to restoring law and order and prioritizing American workers.
Regarding immigration, Grothman noted Trump's efforts in reducing illegal migration since taking office. "On immigration, the President reaffirmed his commitment to securing the southern border and upholding the rule of law," he said. The Congressman highlighted a decrease in border crossings with U.S. Border Patrol arrests at record lows.
Grothman referenced the murder of Georgia nursing student Lakin Riley by Jose Ibarra as an example of why stronger immigration laws are necessary. He commended Trump for signing the Lakin Riley Act into law to prevent similar incidents.
The Congressman also appreciated Trump's recognition of law enforcement officers' sacrifices: "Over the past four years, our brave men and women in uniform have been disparaged." He recalled an assassination attempt on Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania that resulted in firefighter Corey Comperatore's death.
Grothman welcomed Trump's stance on gender issues: "While it is amazing that we have gotten to this point in our country... there are two genders." He criticized government spending on LGBT issues abroad and pledged support for the DOGE committee's efforts against wasteful expenditures.
In conclusion, Grothman expressed optimism about working with Trump and First Lady Melania Trump towards an "American comeback" during their term. "I was honored to be in attendance for tonight’s Joint Address to Congress," he remarked.
