Women’s Health Month, observed each May, aims to raise awareness about women's health issues and encourage women to prioritize their well-being through regular checkups, preventive care, and informed lifestyle choices.
Watertown Regional Medical Center urges women to focus on their health not only this month but throughout the year. "Make some time for your most important asset – your health," they advise.
The center offers guidance for women to enhance their health:
- Schedule an annual wellness visit by calling 920.533.9762 or scheduling an appointment with an OBGYN or primary care provider online.
- Exercise regularly with moderate activity for at least 150 minutes each week.
- Eat a healthier, well-balanced diet including foods low in salt, fat, and cholesterol.
- Control your weight and work to reduce it if necessary.
- Lower stress or anxiety levels by taking "me" time such as getting a massage or taking a yoga class. Consider scheduling an appointment with a licensed counselor.
- Quit smoking and work to avoid or reduce alcohol use.
- Get enough sleep with the recommended 7-9 hours per night for adults.
- Get a mammogram every two years if you are over 40.
The medical center extends wishes for a happy Women’s Health Month: "We hope you mark the occasion by doubling your efforts to make your life’s journey a healthier one."
