Grothman’s Statement on DEI Agenda in the Military

Congressman Glenn Grothman (R-WI) has spoken out against the diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies in the U.S. military, expressing concerns about the impact of these initiatives on the armed forces. Grothman criticized the Biden Administration for prioritizing social experiments over the effectiveness of the military. He stated, "Our military is grappling with the Biden Administration’s social experiments of integrating principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion into their ranks to the detriment of our armed forces."

Highlighting a specific issue within the Air Force, Grothman raised objections to a memo from the Secretary of the Air Force that aimed to reduce the number of white males serving by 33%, emphasizing that such goals are divisive and do not align with merit-based recruitment practices.

Having conducted two hearings on the subject, Grothman shared insights from servicemembers who faced negative repercussions due to extreme DEI policies. He noted a disturbing trend where individuals were penalized for speaking out against these ideologies within the military.

Additionally, Grothman criticized the Department of Defense's request for $114.7 million for diversity and inclusion initiatives in the Fiscal Year 2024 Budget, questioning the financial implications and the focus on high salaries for DEI managers in the military.

As the Chairman of the House Oversight Committee’s Subcommittee on National Security, the Border, and Foreign Affairs, Grothman emphasized the need for a reevaluation of the current trajectory of the military under the Biden Administration. He stated, "No longer can the Biden Administration prioritize progressive ideologies over warfighting capabilities and military readiness."

Grothman's stance underscores a broader concern about the balance between DEI initiatives and the core mission of the military, prompting a call for a thorough reassessment of priorities within the Department of Defense.
