ARIF KHAN FOR US SENATE issued the following announcement on June 30.
FOND DU LAC - Monday's public information meeting on the Lakeside Park master plan sparked debate on the future of the park.
Public Works Director Jordan Skiff led the meeting at 4:30 p.m. at the City-County Government Center and estimated about 50 residents in attendance — a larger crowd than usual. In a hand-raising poll, 40 were most concerned about the proposal to build a multi-purpose building on the lighthouse peninsula.
Skiff reviewed plans for the park before taking questions from attendees regarding the pavilion renovation, the multi-purpose building and an amphitheater.
This most recent master plan was adopted Feb. 12, and the individual aspects of the plan will be taking their next steps, Skiff said.
He also emphasized that the Advisory Park Board is open to public feedback on the plan, and will be taking it into consideration moving forward.
