First Presbyterian Church issued the following announcement.
Midweek Service
Sermon: “The Bread of Life”
Theme: To be in fellowship with Christ Jesus is the source of our health, strength, and wholeness.
Purpose: We learn what it means to depend on Christ for our health and wellbeing.
Scriptures: Psalm 97 The Glory of God’s reign, the signs of God’s righteousness.
John 6:25-35 The people want signs from Jesus, he teaches them that he is the bread of life.
Questions:
What does it mean to us to receive the bread of life? In what ways do we experience “hunger” and “thirst?” How does knowledge of Jesus change our lives? What is it that people are looking for that they think will make them happy? In what ways does Jesus satisfy our needs that are not necessarily what we would have expected? How do we share the joy of Christ’s presence with people who think that they are looking for something tangible or something that the world has to give? What does it mean to us that Jesus is our source of wholeness and confidence?
