FOIA Request to Village of Reeseville Regarding New Voter Registrations on November 7, 2024.
The Fond Du Lac Times, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, has submitted a request under the Wisconsin Open Records Law, §19.31 et seq., for records pertaining to new voter registrations. The request specifically asks for a list of voters who registered on November 5, 2024.
As members of the media, we at the Fond Du Lac Times are involved in gathering and reporting news to the public. Access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
We look forward to the Village of Reeseville's response and will continue our efforts in promoting transparency within local government operations.
