Congressman Glenn Grothman of Wisconsin's 6th Congressional District has expressed his condolences following the death of David Prosser Jr., a former Speaker of the Wisconsin State Assembly and Justice on the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
Grothman remarked, “I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of my friend and former colleague, David Prosser Jr. David was a devoted public servant whose remarkable contributions to Wisconsin have left a lasting legacy that will be felt for generations to come.”
Reflecting on their time together in the state assembly, Grothman said, “During his time as Speaker of the Assembly, David led with fairness, wisdom, and a steady hand. I had the privilege of serving alongside him and saw firsthand his commitment to doing what was right for the people of Wisconsin. His deep understanding of the issues, ability to build consensus, and unwavering commitment to public service earned him the respect of both his colleagues and constituents.”
Grothman also praised Prosser's tenure on the state's highest court: “David’s legacy extends beyond the legislature to his time on the Wisconsin Supreme Court, where he brought the same thoughtfulness and dedication to his role as a justice. His years on the bench were marked by his keen intellect, fairness, and respect for the rule of law. To this day when talking to House leadership about how to handle legislation, I use David Prosser as an example."
Concluding his statement, Grothman added: “Wisconsin has lost a true leader, and I have lost a friend. My thoughts and prayers are with David’s family and loved ones during this difficult time. May we honor his memory by striving to emulate his dedication to public service and his commitment to justice.”
Glenn Grothman is currently serving his fifth term in Congress representing Wisconsin's 6th District.
