Congressman Glenn Grothman has announced key successes following the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act in the House. This significant reconciliation bill is designed to support President Trump's America First agenda, offering tax relief and addressing issues of waste, fraud, and abuse within federal operations.
The legislation aims to prevent potential tax increases by making the 2017 tax cuts permanent. According to Grothman, this move will spare families in Wisconsin’s Sixth District from an average tax increase of $1,486. The bill also proposes eliminating taxes on tips and overtime pay, provides further tax relief for seniors, and seeks to bolster the economy for middle-class families.
Beyond economic measures, the bill allocates full funding for President Trump’s border wall system and enhances immigration enforcement efforts. It reintroduces work requirements for able-bodied adults receiving taxpayer-funded benefits to ensure programs like Medicaid are preserved for those in genuine need.
The bill incorporates Grothman's FEHB Protection Act, which introduces new verification procedures and audits aimed at removing ineligible beneficiaries from the Federal Employees Health Benefits program. This reform is expected to save taxpayers over $2 billion.
Additionally, components of Grothman’s CREATE JOBS Act are included. These extend bonus depreciation provisions from previous tax legislation, maintain full expensing for research and development investments, and apply neutral cost recovery to manufacturing commercial structures until 2029—measures intended to drive job creation and economic growth.
Grothman expressed satisfaction with the bill's passage: “The passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill is a historic victory for Americans, as we’ve avoided the largest tax hike in our nation’s history,” he stated. He emphasized that this legislation aligns with a mandate from voters following what he described as four years of failure under President Biden's administration.
