Watertown Regional Medical Center (WRMC) has released its community benefit and economic impact report for 2024, detailing its contributions to Watertown and southeastern Wisconsin. The report highlights the hospital's efforts in supporting local health and well-being through various initiatives.

"By any of a number of measures, 2024 was a very successful year for Watertown Regional, and that success stems in large part from our strong partnership with the surrounding communities in Dodge and Jefferson counties," said Richard Keddington, CEO of WRMC. He emphasized the hospital's role as a major employer, taxpayer, provider of charitable care, and supporter of local organizations.

The report outlines WRMC's efforts to address healthcare needs by recruiting new providers and investing in facilities and technology. In 2024, the hospital added 39 affiliated providers and invested over $2 million in capital improvements. This included acquiring new equipment such as a surgical table for the DaVinci Xi Robot and electric stretchers for the Emergency Department.

WRMC provided more than $11.5 million in uncompensated and charitable health services last year to ensure access to care regardless of patients' financial situations. Additionally, the hospital distributed over $43 million in salaries, wages, and benefits to its employees while contributing $280,000 towards professional development.

The report also highlights WRMC's economic contributions through approximately $5.5 million paid in taxes. The hospital supported various local activities including events organized by Bentzin Family Town Square, Education Foundation of Watertown (Jig Jog 5K), Glacial Heritage Development among others.

"In the spirit of our partnership with the Watertown area, it only makes sense for us to support local organizations with a shared purpose of building a healthier community," said Keddington.

Watertown Regional Medical Center has been serving Dodge and Jefferson counties for over 115 years with diverse healthcare services ranging from emergency care to specialized medical fields.
