The Wisconsin State Assembly has passed Assembly Joint Resolution 59, which declares June as Dairy Month in the state. The resolution was authored by Representative William Penterman (R-Hustisford).

“I am honored to author the resolution officially designating June as Dairy Month in Wisconsin. Our dairy industry is the backbone of rural communities and a pillar of our state’s economy. Having grown up on a dairy farm, I know firsthand the dedication it takes, and I’m honored to recognize the men and women who make Wisconsin’s dairy industry a success,” said Rep. Penterman.

According to data, the dairy sector contributes $45.6 billion each year to Wisconsin's economy. The state has nearly 6,000 dairy farms and more than 1.28 million cows, producing over a quarter of all cheese made in the United States.

The resolution received bipartisan support in the Assembly.

Penterman was elected as a Republican representative for Wisconsin's 38th House district in 2025, succeeding Barbara Dittrich.
