Envision Greater Fond du Lac held a ribbon cutting ceremony to honor the 50th anniversary of the Fond du Lac Area Foundation and to dedicate Carl Tonjes Street. The newly named street is a one-block section of 14th Street, located between Ellis Street and South Park Avenue in Fond du Lac. This designation pays tribute to Carl Tonjes, who founded the Foundation and played a key role in its development.

Carl Tonjes, along with his wife Delnia, managed the operations of the Foundation from their home at 169 14th Street from 1975 to 1989. Throughout his career, Carl worked as an unpaid volunteer for the organization. The dedication of Carl Tonjes Street took place on this same block, marking what organizers described as a meaningful milestone.

The Fond du Lac Area Foundation was established with the aim of promoting charitable giving and addressing community needs through grants and leadership initiatives. Its efforts cover areas such as education, arts, food and housing security, infrastructure, environmental projects, animal welfare, and community wellness.
