The Fond du Lac Area United Way is proud to announce that the Pacesetter organization for the 2022 United Way fundraising campaign, Holiday Automotive, has surpassed their lofty goal of raising $50,000 for United Way. The team chose this goal in honor of their chairman Mike Shannon’s 50th work anniversary at the local car dealership. Holiday Automotive’s team of community-minded employees pledged a combined total of $64,446.56 toward the Fond du Lac Area United Way’s 2022 goal of $500,000.
“One of our seven Core Values at Holiday is called ‘Give Where We Live’; and this principle is exceedingly evident in our annual United Way drive,” said Thor Gilbertson, CEO of Holiday Automotive. “Holiday and the Mike Shannon Automotive Foundation donate generously to community initiatives, but the United Way drive is different. This is when our team members pledge their own hard-earned money toward enriching the Fond du Lac community. That’s what makes this so special: over 300 members of Team Holiday seeing the same need and having the same focus to help the United Way to do their work right here in our area.”
As the first company to conduct an internal funding drive, the Pacesetter provides momentum toward mid-September, when other area companies begin campaigns of their own. “The pacesetter company truly sets the tone for this crucial drive as we kick-off the United Way fundraising season,” said Rebecca Johnson, President of the Fond du Lac Area United Way board of directors and Holiday team member. “This year’s overall campaign goal of $500,000 is only achievable when each of us, from so many great area businesses, make a commitment to a brighter future for our neighbors in need. Seeing Holiday Automotive teammates exceed our goal by 29% is truly inspiring,” she added. The campaigns of leading local businesses are a critical part of the United Way fundraising effort and often feature fun, creative ways to raise donations.
