Spark Ops Metalworks, a woman-owned and minority-owned business in Fond du Lac, has gained recognition for its innovative approach to metal fabrication and manufacturing. Since its inception in 2022, the company has established itself as a key player across various industries, including entertainment, automotive, defense, and construction.
Maria Perl, the owner of Spark Ops Metalworks, highlighted the company's efforts to diversify through government contracts while emphasizing its status as a woman-owned and minority-owned enterprise. "We’re diversifying with government contracts and getting into different industries," she stated.
The company is involved in producing components for major brands like John Deere and Tesla. It also manufactures trusses and structures for high-profile events such as Road America races, Formula 1 in Miami, and Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas.
A notable product from Spark Ops is the Infinite Cube—a modular structure designed for versatile applications like events and humanitarian aid. These cubes are stackable up to three units high and can be easily transported when collapsed. "All of those cubes, every piece and part, we’re manufacturing here," Perl said proudly.
Spark Ops' community engagement includes participation in local programs like Fond du Lac R.O.C.K. (Retention, Opportunity, Community, Knowledge) and Project G.R.I.L.L., which aim to introduce high school students to potential career paths within local industries. Perl emphasized the importance of knowledge sharing: “Knowledge is key,” she remarked.
As Spark Ops continues to expand—particularly with Infinite Cube production—it faces challenges related to space constraints across its facilities on Cedar Street, Morris Street, and Hickory Street in Fond du Lac.
